DRAFT — COUNSEL REVIEW REQUIRED

Privacy policy.

Effective August 28, 2026. This draft explains the intended data practices for launch and must be reviewed by qualified privacy counsel before live payments are enabled.

1. What we collect

We collect account and company information such as name, email address, employer, membership, and domain-verification evidence; transaction records such as market, amount, currency, payment identifiers, refunds, and disputes; sponsor content and destination URLs; product interactions, referral information, approximate device and network information; communications and support requests; and security, audit, workflow, and fraud-prevention logs.

Stripe Checkout handles card details. OwnTheHype does not intentionally store full card numbers or card security codes.

2. Why we use information

We use information to authenticate users, verify company authority, process and reconcile payments, calculate and publish sponsor rankings, deliver receipts and alerts, attribute traffic, operate analytics, prevent abuse, secure and debug the service, comply with legal obligations, and improve product reliability. We do not sell personal information.

3. Public marketplace information

Sponsor company identity, confirmed spend, rank, placement history, public receipts, and marketplace activity may be public and remain in settled market archives. Individual work email addresses and private campaign analytics are not intended for public display.

4. Service providers and transfers

We use service providers for hosting, databases, queues and rate limits, payments, email, product analytics, AI-assisted editorial workflows, source discovery, and social publishing. The launch stack is expected to include Netlify, Neon, Upstash, Stripe, Resend, PostHog, OpenAI, GitHub, and X. These providers may process information outside your province or country under their own security and privacy terms.

5. Cookies and analytics

Essential cookies or similar storage support authentication, security, and sessions. Product analytics help us understand page use, marketplace activity, and performance. A production consent mechanism must be configured where required before optional analytics are enabled.

6. Retention and safeguards

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes above and applicable legal, tax, accounting, fraud-prevention, and dispute requirements. Financial and rank records may be retained as an append-only audit trail. We use access controls, signed webhooks, environment separation, encryption provided by infrastructure vendors, and audit logging, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Counsel must approve the final retention schedule before launch.

7. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may ask to access or correct your personal information, withdraw consent where applicable, object to or restrict certain processing, or request deletion. Some records must be preserved for financial integrity, legal obligations, fraud prevention, or the public marketplace record. We will verify identity before completing a request.

8. Children

The service is for business users and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

9. Contact and complaints

Privacy questions and rights requests may be sent to privacy@ownthehype.today. This address, the accountable privacy contact, response procedure, and breach-response process must be operational before launch.
